The country’s sports photo journalists joined the photo contest for the 20th Mitsubishi Lancer International Junior Tennis Championship (MLIJTC) which was held last March 24 to 29 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center. After the week-long action packed tournament, hundreds of entries from the top broadsheets and tabloids were submitted vying for the much coveted recognition and prizes.
This year’s winner for girl’s singles Polina Leykina and top Filipino player Francis Alcantara were among the photographers’ eye candy. MMPC’s board of judges, headed by EVP Marketing Mr. Taizo Furuhashi and SVP Marketing Mr. Buboy Alvarez Jr., meticulously screened each entry. Mr. Furuhashi stated, “We are pleased about the turn out of participating entries and it has been increasing every year, which benefits the Lancer Junior Tennis coverage. We noted that the quality of entries is also improving making it very challenging for us to judge. Aside from the photojournalist and sports editors helping us in this endeavor, we’d like to express our appreciation to our partners Accel, Gatorade, Head, and Century Park Sheraton for making this annual event possible.”
