Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), as directed by its principal, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, will conduct a safety inspection campaign on the Montero and ASX models. In the gas-filled type spring for tail-gate, the end cap portion of the outer cylinder may rust due to inappropriate painting. If use continues at the condition, the end cap may be broken due to the swelling outer cylinder as the rust progresses. In the worst case, people around tailgate may be injured by the ruptured outer cylinder at the time when the tailgate is opened.
This proactive measure is meant to ensure the safety of our valued customers on the affected vehicles.
The inspection and/or replacement of the tailgate gas spring may take about one (1) hour at the most and shall be free of charge. Those included in this safety inspection campaign shall be for Montero model years 2009 – 2016, and ASX model years 2011 – 2015.
There will be a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) checking/verification procedure for all potentially affected units which will be posted in a press release in MMPC’s website (http://mmpc.ph/pressrelease/mitsubishi-motors-philippines-announces-safety-inspection-campaign-for-montero-and-asx-tailgate-gas-springs). To ensure smooth servicing, customers may call their preferred Mitsubishi Motors dealership for the schedule of servicing appointment.
