Philippine Government celebrates delivery of final batch of Mitsubishi Montero Sport

MANILA; February 12, 2018 – Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has today completed the delivery of the final batch of Mitsubishi Montero Sport vehicles to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cebu City.

The handover of the final batch of vehicles was marked by a ceremony held at Camp Sergio Osmeña and attended by leading figures from across the Philippine diplomatic and political community.

The handover ceremony saw 20 patrol vehicles turnover to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cebu and was attended by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, Mr. Koji Haneda, and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Director General, Ronald Dela Rosa.

Commenting on the ceremony, MMPC President and CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said:

MMPC is once again delighted to be playing a key role in supporting the work done by local police officers. Today’s ceremony demonstrates the considerable trust placed in our vehicles by the Philippine National Police and the vital contribution they make to the fight against terrorism and criminality across the Philippines. As always, we are confident that our Montero Sport will deliver remarkable driving performance and be of enormous value to law enforcement as they work to keep local communities safe.”

The vehicles are being supplied through an agreement between the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) and Sojitz Corporation under Japan’s Grant Aid program.

Japan’s Grant Aid Program for the Philippines’ Economic and Social Development Program aims to contribute to safety and socioeconomic development, through the provision of local and public counterterrorism and safety-related equipment in the country.
The first batch of 40 patrol vehicles was delivered to the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame in November 2017 and the second batch of 26 patrol vehicles were turned over to PNP-Davao earlier this year, the second of these deliveries was attended by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
