Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) closed the month of February registering again a new monthly record sales of 4,409 units, just two months after establishing its highest monthly record of 4,322 last December 2013. Sales for the month of February also reflected a double digit growth of 29% compared to January sales of 3,411 units and is significantly high by 24% versus the same month last year. Year to date sales also rose by 22% compared to the same period last year with 7,821 units sold for the first two months of the year.
Combined reports from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturer of the Philippines Inc. and Truck Manufacturers Association showed that the industry enjoyed a modest growth of 8% with a total of 16,829 units sold despite the fewer calendar days in February. With this figure, MMPC was able to capture 26% market share. MMPC strongly remains to be the second bestselling automotive brand in the country.
MMPC’s sales in most of the industry segments remarkably improved. Passenger cars sales is up by 6% with 919 units sold. The Mirage (hatchback) and Mirage G4 continue to attract a substantial chunk of the car buyers because of its fuel efficiency, cool styling and value added features. Year to date figures shows that Mirage G4 and the Mirage are among the top ten bestselling cars.
Meanwhile, MMPC light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales for February reached 3,351 units which is impressively up by 39% compared to January sales of 2,407 units. The growth in LCV sales is attributable to the strong sales performance of the Montero Sport which stays to be one of the bestselling vehicles. The Montero Sport also topped both SUV segments and total LCV category last February. The ever reliable Mitsubishi L300 and Adventure also took the sixth and eighth place respectively on the roster of top ten bestselling vehicles in the country.
