Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) on its quest towards enriching the society and contributing to the preservation of the global environment recently responded to the call for volunteers for the rehabilitation of the Banaue Rice Terraces. Banaue Rice Terraces as it is commonly called or the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras has been hailed as UNESCO’s Eighth Wonder of the World and considered as one of the most well-known attractions in the Philippines. However, in 2001 the Banaue Rice Terraces was included in UNESCO’s List in Danger. And to make the matter worse, a series of typhoons that hit the country last year caused landslides damaging a portion of the Batad Rice Terraces. The Batad Rice Terraces is one of the clusters of the Banaue Rice Terraces which is said to be the most spectacular among the rice terraces. If this problem will simply be ignored then there is a great possibility that the rice terraces will become irreparable removing it from roster of the Wonders of the World. With the urgency of need to save this majestic heritage, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation through the invitation of an advocate and seasoned advertising photographer, Mr. John Chua, joined the group of government and non-government organizations working hand in hand for the rehabilitation of the rice terraces.
